5/4/06 - Today, at the award ceremony and luncheon of the Philadelphia Federal Executive Board, Mike Haas was the recipient of the gold medal for "Private Sector Involvement - Individual."  Mike was recognized for his "tremendous effort in assisting Philadelphia Fry-O-Diesel (PFOD) in establishing a demonstration project for the production of renewable biodiesel fuels from waste trap greases within the Philadelphia region."  In 2004, PFOD received a Pennsylvania Energy Harvest grant to construct and operate a demonstration scale production facility for the conversion of restaurant trap grease to biodiesel fuel.  Dr. Haas has contributed his expertise, research time, and analytical resources to assist PFOD in developing this alternate fuel source.
